Privacy Policy

BLOC Love Foundation Effective date: September 21, 2026

BLOC Love Foundation ("BLOC Love," "we," "us," or "our") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Oakland, California (EIN 86-2869927). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit bloclovefoundation.com and its subdomains (the "Site"), donate, become a member, volunteer, apply for a program, or communicate with us — and how we use and protect it.

By using the Site or sharing information with us, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us directly. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

  • Contact details — name, email address, mailing address, mobile phone number, and city.

  • Donation and membership details — donation amount, date, payment method, and membership status. Payments are processed by PayPal or Wix Payments; we never see or store your full card number.

  • Volunteer details — availability, roles you're interested in, and shirt size.

  • Program and event applications — for programs like our Holiday BLOC Blessing, we may ask for household size, household income range, preferred language, accommodation needs, and information about the children in your household (first name, age, grade, school, clothing and shoe sizes, and gift wishes). This information is provided by a parent or legal guardian.

  • Messages — anything you send us by email, text, contact form, or social media.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our Site (hosted on Wix) may collect your IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, and referring links through cookies and similar tools. We may use Google Analytics to understand how people use the Site. You can control cookies in your browser settings.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Process donations, memberships, and thank-you gifts, and send receipts.

  • Review program and event applications and match families with sponsors.

  • Communicate with you about donations, events, volunteer shifts, and programs you signed up for.

  • Send newsletters, event invitations, and updates about our work (you can unsubscribe at any time).

  • Send text messages if you opted in (see Section 4).

  • Report aggregate, non-identifying impact numbers to partners, funders, and the public (for example, "we served 40 families").

  • Keep records required by law, including IRS records for charitable donations.

  • Protect the Site, our community, and our organization from fraud and misuse.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade it.

We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers who work on our behalf. We use trusted tools to run the organization, including Wix (website and forms), PayPal and Wix Payments (payments), GoHighLevel (contact management, email, and text messaging), Notion (internal records), Google Workspace (email and documents), and Vercel (web hosting). These providers may only use your information to provide services to us.

  • Event sponsors. If your family is chosen for a gift program, a sponsor receives a gift list with a child's first name, age, clothing and shoe sizes, and gift wishes only. Sponsors never receive your last name, address, phone, email, income, or school information.

  • Community partners. Partner organizations that help promote a program (for example, The Mamahood) receive only aggregate counts — such as how many families applied through their referral — never individual applicant information.

  • Legal reasons. If required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of our community, staff, or organization.

  • With your permission. For example, if you agree to be featured in a story or photo.

Text messaging (SMS) consent and phone numbers are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. The one exception is the messaging platform we use to send you the texts you asked for, and it may not use your number for anything else.

4. Text messaging (SMS) program

If you give us your mobile number and check the consent box on one of our forms, or text a keyword to our number, you agree to receive text messages from BLOC Love Foundation. Here is what you should know:

  • What we send: event confirmations and reminders, application updates, volunteer shift details, donation and membership receipts or reminders, and occasional updates about our programs.

  • Message frequency varies. Most people receive 2–6 messages per month; you may receive more around an event you signed up for.

  • Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier.

  • To stop: reply STOP to any message at any time and you will be unsubscribed. You may receive one final message confirming you've been opted out.

  • To get help: reply HELP to any message, email TheBloclove@gmail.com, or call [BUSINESS PHONE].

  • Consent is not a condition of donating, becoming a member, or receiving services from BLOC Love.

  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

See our Terms of Service for the full SMS terms.

5. Children's privacy

Our Site and forms are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 13. When we collect information about children — such as a gift list for our holiday program — it is provided by a parent or legal guardian and is used only to run that program. If you believe a child has submitted information to us directly, contact us and we will delete it.

6. How long we keep information

  • Donation and membership records: kept as required for tax and accounting purposes (generally 7 years).

  • Program applications: private household details (income, contact information, children's details) are kept only as long as needed to run the program and for a reasonable period afterward for follow-up and reporting, then deleted or anonymized.

  • Email and text subscriptions: kept until you unsubscribe.

  • Website analytics: kept according to the retention settings of the analytics tool.

7. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Unsubscribe from emails using the link at the bottom of any email.

  • Stop text messages by replying STOP.

  • Ask what we have, correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing TheBloclove@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to keep some records (like donation receipts) where the law requires it.

We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.

California residents: BLOC Love Foundation is a nonprofit and is generally not covered by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We still honor the choices above for everyone. We do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals at this time.

8. How we protect information

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including access limits on private records (only core team members can view family applications), secure payment processors, and encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Links to other sites

Our Site may link to other websites, such as PayPal, social media, or partner organizations. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top tells you when it was last changed. If we make a significant change, we will post a notice on the Site.
