Terms of Service

BLOC Love Foundation Effective date: September 21, 2026

Welcome to BLOC Love Foundation ("BLOC Love," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of bloclovefoundation.com and its subdomains (the "Site"), and your donations, memberships, volunteer sign-ups, program applications, and text-message communications with us.

By using the Site or interacting with us in any of these ways, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Who we are

BLOC Love Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization based in Oakland, California (EIN 86-2869927). We run community programs including food distribution, youth and family services, elder care, support for unhoused neighbors, and healing initiatives.

2. Using the Site

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You will not:

  • Submit false or misleading information, or apply for a program on behalf of someone without their permission.

  • Submit duplicate applications for the same household.

  • Attempt to access private data, interfere with the Site, or use bots or scrapers.

  • Use the Site to harass, threaten, or harm anyone.

  • Copy or reuse our content, logos, or photos without written permission.

We may limit or block access to anyone who violates these Terms.

3. Donations

  • Tax deductibility. BLOC Love Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. If you receive a thank-you gift in return for a donation, the deductible amount may be reduced by the fair market value of that gift, and your receipt will say so.

  • Payment processing. Donations are processed by PayPal, Wix Payments, or other processors we choose. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms.

  • Processing fees. Some forms give you the option to add a small amount to cover processing fees. This is optional.

  • How we use donations. Unless you designate a gift for a specific program and we accept that designation, donations go to our general fund and are used where the need is greatest.

  • Refunds. Donations are generally non-refundable. If you made a mistake (for example, the wrong amount or a duplicate donation), contact us within 30 days at TheBloclove@gmail.com and we will work with you in good faith.

  • Recurring donations and memberships. Recurring gifts continue until you cancel. You can cancel at any time by contacting us or through your PayPal account. Cancellation stops future charges but does not refund past ones.

4. Membership program

Our membership ($15/month plus a one-time setup fee) supports ongoing programs. Members may receive a quarterly gift box curated from community partners and BLOC Love merchandise. Box contents vary and are not guaranteed. Membership is a way to sustain the mission, not a purchase of goods; the fair market value of any gift box will be noted on your receipt as required by IRS rules. You may cancel at any time (see Section 3).

5. Thank-you gifts and merchandise

Items we offer are thank-you gifts in response to a donation, not products for sale. Gift tiers depend on donation amount. Availability, sizes, and designs may change without notice. If a gift is unavailable we may substitute a similar item or contact you.

6. Programs, events, and applications

  • Applying is not a guarantee. We review every application and choose participants based on need, capacity, and program criteria. Decisions are at our sole discretion and are final.

  • Accuracy. You must provide accurate information, including a name that matches your government ID where required. False information may result in removal from a program.

  • Event rules. Each event may have specific rules (for example, in-person attendance, number of guests, ID requirements). Those rules are part of these Terms when you register.

  • Sponsors. If you sponsor a family or child, you agree to fulfill your commitment by the stated deadline and to use gift-list information only for that purpose. You may not contact a family directly or share their information. Gifts become the property of BLOC Love upon receipt and are distributed at our discretion.

  • Photos and media. Our events are often photographed or filmed. By attending, you consent to BLOC Love using photos or video of you and those you register in our communications, unless you tell us in writing at the event that you do not consent.

  • Assumption of risk. You attend events and volunteer voluntarily and at your own risk. You agree to follow staff instructions and safety guidance.

7. Volunteering

Volunteers are not employees and receive no wages or benefits. You may be asked to complete a waiver or background check for certain roles. We may decline or end any volunteer relationship at any time.

8. Text messaging (SMS) terms

By providing your mobile number and checking the consent box on one of our forms, or by texting a keyword to our number, you agree to receive text messages from BLOC Love Foundation at the number you provided.

  • Program description: Messages may include event confirmations and reminders, application status updates, volunteer shift details, donation and membership receipts or reminders, and occasional updates about our programs.

  • Message frequency varies; typically 2–6 messages per month, with more around events you registered for.

  • Message and data rates may apply.

  • Opt out: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. You will receive one confirmation message and then no further texts unless you opt in again.

  • Help: Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at TheBloclove@gmail.com or [BUSINESS PHONE].

  • Consent is not a condition of any donation, membership, or service.

  • Your number will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.

  • Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Messages may be sent using an automated system.

9. Your submissions

When you send us content — messages, stories, photos, testimonials, or feedback — you give us permission to use it to run our programs and share our work, without payment. You confirm you have the right to share it. We may edit or decline to use any submission. Private application data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy and is not "content" under this section.

10. Our content

The Site, including text, graphics, logos, photos, and the BLOC Love name and #iShowMyBLOCLOVE campaign, is owned by BLOC Love Foundation or used with permission. You may share links to the Site and use our materials to promote our work, but you may not modify our logos or imply that we endorse you without written permission.

11. Third-party services

The Site relies on third-party services such as Wix, PayPal, Google, and social media platforms. We are not responsible for their availability, content, or practices. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

12. Disclaimers

The Site and our programs are provided "as is." We do our best to keep information accurate and the Site available, but we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the Site will be error-free or uninterrupted. Nothing on the Site is legal, tax, financial, or medical advice. Please consult a professional about the tax treatment of your donation.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, BLOC Love Foundation and its directors, officers, volunteers, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, participation in our programs or events, or reliance on any content. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you donated to us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless BLOC Love Foundation and its directors, officers, volunteers, and agents from any claims or costs arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Site or our programs.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Alameda County, California, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the new Terms.
